After graduating from Georgia Tech and a brief time at engineering, Doc started building houses in 1972 as Francis Marion builders. We crashed
& burned, along with everyone else, in 1974. DocWild was born from the ashes
and during that phase of our life we specialized in designing and building bars
& restaurants doing most of our work in 5 Points. The crew was mostly a bunch of college boys having fun showing off. We were quite likely one of the most educated groups of hammer slingers in town with Ellis Smith
and little Kim Davis working on Masters Degrees and Larry Turner wrapping up his PhD. Some older folks may remember we built Greenstreets (3 times), the old Yacht Club, and built Bryan’s Warehouse (perhaps helping birth the Vista?). Also from that group came some of the areas best cabinet makers, Bill Schmidt (Sharky)., David Pietras
(Padre), Chip Cromer, and li’l Bill Thomas.
After an extended mandatory vacation as a result of an accident, we were called back to service to oversee the construction of the Riverbanks Botanical Garden for Loveless Commercial Contracting. From there we evolved into our current form concentrating on back yards, water, rocks,
& play things.
